This Summer, young actors of the Valley are invited to take the stage and join us for the 2016 Camp Rising Star! We're proud to announce that we will be holding three amazing sessions with shows that include:
● The Lion King Experience
● The Rude Mechanicals (Freely Adapted from Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night Dream)
● Dinosaurs Before Dark for Kids
Along with these three shows, the Amy Bennett Foundation will be offering $250 scholarships for one camper in each of the three camp sessions who face challenging economic needs. If you are, or know someone participating in Camp Rising Star who meets the criteria, you can download the application here.
To kick-off the Summer, our first session will be the Lion King Experience. Known as a global inspiration, the Lion King Experience allows us to explore theater from its various angles including: performance, design, directing, writing and technical theater. The session will go from June 13th to 25th, Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is designed for campers who are between 7th and 9th grade. Auditions for named lead roles will take place on June 13th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and two of the performing shows will take place on Saturday, June 25th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Our second session will allow campers to experience Shakespeare in a fun and exciting way with the Rude Mechanicals. Freely adapted from Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night Dream, this “play within a play” is a textured comedy that features a sizable cast and multiple storylines. The session will go from July 11th to 16th, Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed for campers who are between the ages of 13 to 18 years old. Two of the performing shows will take place on Saturday, July 16th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Our final session will take our campers back to when Dinosaurs ruled the planet with the musical drama, Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark for Kids! This musical is an adaptation of Mary Pope Osborne's award winning fantasy adventure books from the "Magic Tree House" book series and allows campers to dive into a world full of adventure and amazing music. The session will go from July 18th to 30th, Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is designed for campers who are between the ages of 7 to 18 years old. Auditions for named lead roles will take place on July 18th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and two of the performing shows will take place on Saturday, August 1st at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
